FOR THE LOVE OF LEADERSHIP ARCHIVE

Leading in this Moment

Happy September!

I love lots of things about September:

>> The excitement of the close of the Red Sox’ regular season (🤞🏼 for the post-season) and the beginning of Michael’s fall ball ⚾️.

>> Sweater-weather for the bus stop run and t-shirts in the afternoon 🌤️.

>> My fall-bloomer along our front walk that’s about to be full of soft pink flowers 🌸.

Right now, what I’m enjoying most is feeling like I have a little space for a reset.

Summer schedule coupled with a home renovation meant mostly focusing on current client work and tending to everything else on an as-needed, as-available basis.

Now that the school year has started and the reno is so close to the end, I'm excited to bring a bit more focus into my work days.

It’s not just a focus on how I manage my days, although that’s changing a lot this year now that Michael’s off to middle school (side note - how is that possible?!).

It’s a reset on how I think about my work and the impact I hope to have with it.

Demands on leaders are changing. What it means to be a great leader and inspire trust on a team looks a little different. How we create some level of certainty in uncertain times is a rising priority.

How we talk about leadership in a way that has real impact has to shift, too.

I’m not sure exactly what that looks like yet, so for now I’m prioritizing:

✨ Making time for creativity, experimentation, and fun

✨ Connecting with others who are curious about similar topics

✨ Revisiting organizational development and leadership resources

I'm excited to see what comes up as we continue to navigate what it means to lead successfully and to create a culture where people can thrive.

And while I don't have answers, I will offer an invitation to sit with your own leadership - what feels most important right now? Where are you feeling pulled to try something new or support your team in a different way?
